How to pay fidyah?

Kaffarah can be paid in the following ways:

i) Kaffarah for Sexual Intercourse During the Day in Ramadan
1. Freeing a slave (no longer applicable today)
2. Fasting for two consecutive months
3. If unable, feeding 60 poor people

ii) Kaffarah for Breaking an Oath (Kaffarah Yamin)
1. Feeding 10 poor people
2. If unable, fasting for three days


iii) Kaffarah for Breaking a Vow (Nazar)
1. Feeding 10 poor people
2. If unable, fasting for three days

iv) Kaffarah for ‘Ila’ (Swearing not to approach one’s wife)
1. Feeding 10 poor people
2. If unable, fasting for three consecutive days

v) Kaffarah for Zihar (Comparing one’s wife to a mahram woman)
1. Freeing a slave
2. If unable, fasting for two consecutive months
3. If unable, feeding 60 poor people
