Can fidyah be paid to institutions or through charitable organizations?
The Fatwa Committee of the State of Selangor, in its 5th meeting of 2020 held on 17 Rabi’ul Awwal 1442H (corresponding to 3 November 2020), agreed on the following decision:
a) Fidyah and kaffarah should be paid to Baitulmal, under the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS);
b) Payments may also be made through authorized fidyah/kaffarah collection agents appointed by MAIS.
